AARC Code of Conduct
AARC Code of Conduct
Always show respect to your fellow club members at all times, keeping in mind, yelling taunting, physical violence, abusive language, racial, ethnic or gender slurs, unwanted sexual or physical contact are not permitted nor will be tolerated. Also showing respect to the location of the club run. Trespassing, vandalism, or any unlawful acts are not permitted nor tolerated.
Always abide by race rules and engage in fair competition, which includes anti-doping compliance, no course cutting, or other means of gaining a competitive advantage that is considered cheating when participating in club races or other races where you may represent the club either indirectly or directly by wearing a club-branded singlet, shirt, uniform, paid member of the club, etc.
Observed violations of the AARC Member Code of Conduct policy should be reported to the Board in writing by emailing info@ashburnrunning.org.
Members who feel that someone has violated the club’s Code of Conduct should submit a written complaint to the Board of Directors. The Board will take action to review the complaint in a timely manner. If a complaint is found and depending on the severity of the violation, the Board may want to consult with a local attorney and/or local law enforcement to determine a course of action.
If the code violation seems like a minor issue or something the Board can address themselves such as a complaint of foul language or not engaging in fair competition, then the Board will follow a plan of action as follows. First, at a minimum two (2) Board members, will discuss the issue with the offending member and give them a verbal warning. This verbal warning will then be documented. If the problem persists, the Board will give the person a written warning that outlines how another complaint will result in loss of membership and that they will be barred from participating in club activities.
